Tamalanrea Science and Research Center proudly reports the participation of its member, Junaedi, in the International Conference on Herbal Medicine held in Phitsanulok, Thailand, on 19–21 August 2025. This global forum brought together experts, academics, and practitioners from various countries to exchange knowledge and innovations in the field of natural and herbal medicine.
At the conference, Junaedi presented his research on Lasa Makkunrai, a reproductive health disorder in women, as recorded in the ancient Buginese medical manuscript, Lontara Pabbura. The manuscript contains numerous traditional herbal recipes, preparation techniques, and methods of administration that were historically used by the Bugis community to treat this condition.

His presentation highlighted how traditional knowledge of Lasa Makkunrai can be integrated with modern approaches in herbal medicine. The topic drew significant attention from international participants and sparked in-depth discussions on the potential of combining local wisdom with contemporary scientific evidence, particularly in the field of women’s reproductive health.
Junaedi emphasized the importance of preserving Lontara Pabbura not only as cultural heritage but also as a valuable source of knowledge relevant to present-day healthcare. He underlined that Lasa Makkunrai represents more than just traditional healing practices—it also offers opportunities to enrich global approaches to herbal therapy.

Through this contribution, the Tamalanrea Science and Research Center reaffirms its commitment to exploring, preserving, and introducing local knowledge systems to the international stage, ensuring that Buginese traditional medicine continues to thrive and contribute to future healthcare solutions.
