The Tamalanrea Science and Research Center (TSRC) proudly reports the participation of one of its members, Junaedi, a postgraduate student of Pharmacy at Universitas Megarezky (UNIMERZ) Makassar, in the Consortium for Globalization of Chinese Medicine cum Innovative Research in Natural Medicine, held in Zhuhai, China, on August 20–22, 2024.

In this prestigious forum, which brought together experts, researchers, and practitioners of natural medicine from around the world, Junaedi stood out as the sole representative from Indonesia. He presented Lontara Pabbura, an ancient Buginese medical manuscript from South Sulawesi that records a wide range of traditional knowledge, including herbal remedies and healing techniques.

This manuscript contains various recipes and traditional healing methods that were used to treat different kinds of illnesses,” Junaedi stated in his official remarks on Wednesday (August 21, 2024).

His presentation not only introduced the rich cultural and medicinal heritage of South Sulawesi to the international stage but also opened opportunities for global discussions on how traditional medicine could be integrated with modern approaches. Junaedi emphasized that Lontara Pabbura is a valuable source of knowledge that must be preserved and further developed to remain relevant in addressing global health challenges.

Beyond his role as a student, Junaedi is also an active member of TSRC, a community dedicated to advancing local knowledge and exploring regional potential, particularly in traditional medicine. This affiliation further strengthens his commitment to bringing local wisdom into academic and scientific contexts.

Junaedi’s participation in this international forum represents a significant milestone for TSRC, reaffirming the community’s commitment to supporting the development of local knowledge while fostering international collaboration. It also highlights TSRC’s mission to bridge traditional wisdom with modern science.
